Buffalo premier of the film “Dear Governor Cuomo…” about New York’s anti-fracking movement. The film documents the diverse coalition of citizens, musicians and scientists fighting for a state ban of fracking, highlighting their advocacy at the State Capitol and an accompanying concert of prominent artists to further emphasize their opposition. If you're new to the issue of fracking, the film also works as a great introduction.
The film was written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Jon Bowermaster, includes footage directed by Academy Award-winning director Alex Gibney, and features biologist Sandra Steingraber, actor Mark Ruffalo, actress Melissa Leo, and musicians Natalie Merchant, Joan Osborne, Citizen Cope, Medeski Martin and Wood and The Felice Brothers.
Sponsored by Food & Water Watch, Daemen's Local & Global Sustainability program, and WNY Drilling Defense.
Post Script: The film is excellent and for those who attended the concert/rally that day it will be especially touching to see it again! Great interviews from many of the grassroot movement leaders. If you get a chance, see the film!
