Adirondack Park is not a Storage Facility!

If you believe you have seen it all, here is one more absurdity proposed only for the sake of corporate profit:

Owners of the Saratoga-North Creek Railway have big plans for a new use of the railroad line from North Creek into the High Peaks.
Last week, company President Ed Ellis made a presentation to the Warren County Board of Supervisors Public Works Committee about the company’s new plans. Ellis sees an exciting business opportunity for his rail lines with low traffic in the long-term storage of hundreds of oil-soaked tanker cars.

The article has full details and several links to other important reads on this proposal.    You can see the video of the full meeting where the proposal was given at this link and passed by the committee.
It apparently has a 1 yr time frame and then they will do more questions, reviews, etc before their 5 yr permit is extended!

Railroad Plans To Store Oil Tankers in High Peaks
The photo is from a line of tanker cars "parked" in North Chili this past year for a temporary time.  It is near my home so I explored - they smell! and nothing crosses that line!   That's not what I want for the Adirondack Park region.   Build tourism - not industrialization.
